Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise, also known as cardiovascular exercise, involves activities that increase heart rate and breathing rate. Examples of aerobic exercise include running, cycling, swimming, and dancing. Aerobic exercise has been shown to have a positive effect on academic performance in college students. For example, a study conducted by the University of Illinois found that students who participated in regular aerobic exercise had higher GPAs than those who did not exercise regularly. The study also found that the students who exercised regularly had better time management skills and were more likely to be on time for class and complete assignments on time (Talbot, Neville, & Wilkinson, 2019). Aerobic exercise has also been found to have a positive impact on mental health. Research has shown that regular aerobic exercise can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in college students (Kandola et al., 2019). Aerobic exercise is believed to stimulate the production of endorphins, which are natural mood boosters, and reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.
