Strength Training
Strength training involves using weights, resistance bands, or body weight exercises to build muscle and improve strength. Examples of strength training exercises include weightlifting, push-ups, and squats. While strength training may not directly improve academic performance, it has been shown to have a positive impact on mental health. Strength training has been found to be effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression in college students. One study found that participants who engaged in a 12-week strength training program reported significantly reduced symptoms of depression compared to a control group (Gordon et al., 2018). Strength training may also improve self-esteem and body image, which can have a positive impact on mental health.
